The TV can be dropped on power pads to supply power to electric devices, or you can drop it to amuse enemies so that they'll leave you alone while you escape or tend to something in the nearby area. You may reveal a hidden room behind it or stop an unwanted effect. When that happens, you can often spray the object in question to make it turn into a translucent state.

Sometimes you'll come across something especially bright and vibrant, such as a light blue patch of bricks on a wall or a doorway that looks just a little bit too bright and vivid compared to its dingy surroundings. If you paint it in, you could set nearby platforms to spinning so that you can reach a higher ledge.

For instance, you might see a gear on a wall. As you wander through each stage, you'll often come across translucent (almost invisible) items that you can bring to life with paint. Paint and thinner are useful when facing off against enemies, but they also come in handy as you work through many stages. Though the game can be difficult in places, it's entirely possible to finish it without ever calling on the guardians.

The type of liquid that you are using (thinner or paint) determines what type of guardian you use to attack. You can unleash a guardian once you fill one bar on the meter, two guardians when you fill two bars and three guardians when the meter is full. When you fight with paint or thinner, you fill up a guardian meter. In those instances, you must spray away armor with your thinner, then move in close and use a physical spin attack to finish the job. Some enemies can't be controlled in this fashion. The enemy will fight other enemies on your behalf and will leave you alone to explore, unless somehow it is hit with thinner by another enemy. If you paint an enemy, you can eventually count it as an ally. Your standard foe can either be dissolved with thinner (to make him disappear and leave behind a health pick-up) or painted. Paint and thinner have different impact on enemies. Around the various stages, you can also break apart objects such as barrels and statues to find more paint and thinner. You can run out of them if you use them recklessly, but within a second or two you'll be provided with more. This attack requires nothing more than a shake of the Wii Remote and can be used as often as you like.
